TATONKA is a German brand of hiking clothing and equipment.
The company TATONKA has been known worldwide for over 20 years and has been producing high-quality hiking equipment. Since its founding, Tatonka has adhered to a policy of the highest possible quality of equipment and backpacks at an affordable price.
By producing its own products, TATONKA can control the production process from start to finish and, if necessary, intervene to make any necessary changes and quickly stimulate new developments. Thus avoiding the possibility of counterfeiting branded items!
The company is constantly improving its products and using the latest technological advances and the most modern materials to meet the highest requirements of its customers. When developing new products, a large number of reviews from opinion leaders and customers are taken into account.
The company works only with the highest quality materials from well-known subcontractors with whom it has been working for years. This allows not only to maintain high standards, but also to jointly develop new materials.
You can always be confident in equipment from TATONKA.
PRODUCTION
Social responsibility and sustainability - independent, separate production of products, with transparent company operations!
As a family-owned company, social responsibility and sustainability are not just marketing slogans - they are values that guide the Tatonka brand. The company is responsible for its employees both in Germany and in Vietnam.
Tatonka is the only outdoor manufacturer that manufactures all of its products in a completely transparent manner in its own factories - for over 30 years. Thanks to the Open Factory program, anyone can visit the SA8000 certified Mountech Co. Ltd. factory in Vietnam once a week during working hours and see the entire production process from hiking accessories to backpacks.
Seeing it with your own eyes means starting to trust!
For many people, it is becoming increasingly important to buy products that are produced under socially responsible and fair production conditions. Companies that work with contract manufacturing agreements from European countries often confirm their fair production practices with seals and certificates. At Tatonka, they do things differently with the Open Factory. The factory is open to regular visitors once a week.
The Open Factory - open doors since 2011
The Open Factory program was created in 2011 because Tatonka considered it important not only to certify its operations according to the internationally recognized social standard SA8000, but also to provide access to the production facilities to anyone with a personal interest. Some are interested in our social standards, while others simply want to know how a backpack is made.
Visits during opening hours:
Once a week the factory doors are open to visitors - during opening hours. For more information about the Open Factory program, visit www.openfactory.tatonka.com
CERTIFICATION
SA8000 valid until: 2014 certified
Since 2011, the Mountech Co. Ltd. factory has been certified according to the internationally recognized social standard SA8000, which confirms its responsibility as an employer. In 2011, the European non-profit organization MADE BY confirmed that the company achieved 100% of the established social standards. The certificate is always valid for three years, after which a re-audit is carried out. Compliance is checked twice a year. In July 2017, TÜV Rheinland conducted its last audit, which confirmed that the facilities meet the current SA8000 standards for another three years.
SA8000 - an internationally recognized social standard
SA8000 was initiated in 1987 by the non-profit organization SAI (Social Accountability International), based in New York. It allows companies with their own manufacturing facilities to demonstrate their social responsibility and currently supports them in accordance with the largest and most comprehensive global standards. The standards are based on national legislation, the UN Declaration of Human Rights and the ILO (International Labour Organization) labor standards. Certification and monitoring are carried out by independent companies accredited by a SAI, in this case TÜV Rheinland.
